Today I was conked on the head. I'm not sure what exactly happened, just that I was sitting there and some random elementary child walks by and conks me on the head. I didn't see it happen...I felt it.
Teresa, Kari, and I decided to see what it would be like taking the boys and Maya to a matinee (rather than stay home and eat bon bons and watch Opera as my husband is sometimes convinced of). We don't really get out to see movies anymore (I think my last one was pre-Slade by 5 months) so why not? we decided.
Towards the end of the 30 minute long previews (seriously..why?!) about a gazillion elementary school kids and 2 teachers (ok, maybe more) came in. So now we miss some pretty integral stuff in the very beginning of the movie (National Treasure) while these goofballs file in - in madness. One kid even rolls down the isle ...voluntarily (who parents these children?).
Then the first conk came...Teresa was hit! What the heck!?! I figured some kid must have accidentally elbowed her in the noggin. (We were sitting in the very back row in case the babies acted up). Couldn't spot the kid b/c they were all in a blur going past us - ugh.
Later on in the movie as the zillionth child was up using the restroom - CONK! Some little brat conked me on the noggin - I wasn't sure what happened at first - it felt like someone butted heads with me. Not to mention the fact that I was holding a sleeping baby! Later when a teacher had him apologize to me (she must have witnessed the 2nd conk...I still wasn't sure it was purposeful) and I was taken off guard so I blurted a quick thank you (not sure why I thanked him...and not sure why I didn't make him apologize to Teresa as well!) to him and only realized after this transpired that he totally did it on PURPOSE!!! What the ________!?!?!? Seriously, who raises these children?!
On a funny side note, Slade grabbed Maya's hand and held it for a good 2 minutes (wouldn't you say Teresa?). So 14 years from now when he's begging for his first 'date' - I'll remind him he's already had it and he'll have to still wait 2 more years for another!
Also, every time a kiss scene came about in the movie all the kids boo'ed and yuck'ed it. That was amusing....if only we could keep them that way until they were about 30!

As I was sitting here reading about our adventures getting conked at the movies, Maya who is sitting on my lap proceeds to head butt the computer desk. So now she's officially been conked for the day. Yep Maya and Slade held hands more than onces and Maya didn't even seem to mind.
Megan and I often wonder who parents children we come across.
I mean if I had ever had the nerve to try some of the things I see them do, my mother would have killed me!
