Am I the only one who cannot stand to look at a VERY obviously misspelled word? It literally causes me actual pain to see a word, especially one that would have definitely been learned by 3rd grader, be misspelled. Now I KNOW I am far from being perfect - ESPECIALLY when it comes to the format of my writings, but holy cow- I can't take the misspellings people!
I didn't realize how much it bugged me and has since my days of youth (let's take it back 10 years or so) until I was chatting with my 'BFF' on the East Coast the other day and she mentioned going through some of our old notes we'd pass between classes in a group of mine. She told me that I'd corrected her spelling and given her notes back to her so she'd take note of the corrections up until the point that she told me if I kept doing that she was going to cut our friendship short. We're still communicating, obviously, so I assume I must have turned a blind eye from that point on. Lately, I've been reading blogs and emails and noticing again how this bugs me severely. I mean, have we not learned how to properly use the words 'to' and 'too' or 'their' and 'there'? I'm really not being too picky, I'm not asking you to spell correctly supercalafragulous (sp?) or anything, but I am asking to read adult writings on an adult level. It's really mind-boggling to me the words that people still have not learned to use or spell correctly- people who have teenage children and have college degrees for gosh sakes! Spellchecker must have ruined our sense of spelling direction...or has it? If it had we'd still be using it and some people very obviously are skipping that step as of late. Who was correcting their papers in English class I ask?
Again, I am NOT perfect.

Yes, Kari- I AM talking about you! :)
I forgot to add 'they're' for 'there'! So there!
Guilty on both levels...I have grammar/spelling mistakes in my blog (embarrassing, especially since I get paid to write and edit for a living!) but also get annoyed when I see some blatant ones.
